Burak Hasan is a 5th Dan Black belt who has been training since he could walk. Burak has many accomplishments beneath his belt. He has represented Australia at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. Currently he is training for his next Kickboxing fight to be held in Melbourne.

ReplyDeleteCongratulations on a really beautiful body of work. I especially like the way the consistency of the lighting throughout the series communicates the mental element of the sport. While the subjects of the shots explicitly focus on the physical elements (the muscles, the gloves, the body), the lighting works to convey a sense of the mental strength required by the aesthete and I think this is an original angle on the subject. I think the work, as a whole, also articulates this aspect of the sport by refraining to depict an opponent and by having the subject enveloped by his surrounds. Shots 4-7 are very similar; maybe I’d look at choosing one or two of these for your final submission. Otherwise I think this is working really well.
